Hymn: Jesus, Thine all-victorious love
1.
Jesus, Thine all-victorious love Shed in my soul abroad; Then shall my heart no longer rove, Rooted and fixed in God, Rooted and fixed in God. 2. Oh, that in me the sacred fire Might now begin to glow; Burn up the dross of base desire, And make the mountains flow, And make the mountains flow. 3. He, who at Pentecost didst fall, May He my sins consume; Thy Holy Ghost, for Him I call; Thy burning Spirit, come, Thy burning Spirit, come. 4. Refining fire, go through my heart, Illuminate my soul; Scatter Thy life through every part, And sanctify the whole, And sanctify the whole. 5. My steadfast soul, from falling free, Shall then no longer move, While Christ is all the world to me, And all my heart is love, And all my heart is love. |
The Savior's Everlasting Love and Servant's Feet-Washing |
|
a. The Ultimate True Love and the Evil of Greed |
The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. (雅歌 Song of Songs 8:6)
Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy[a] unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
b. The compassion of foot washing and the cleansing of participation |
Depart, go out from there! Touch no unclean thing! Come out from it and be pure, you who carry the articles of the Lord's house.
Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
Just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
c. The purity of the whole body and the uncleanness of the seller of the Lord |
Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me.
Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.
For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.
for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy. Since you call on a Father who judges each person's work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear.
You who are young, be happy while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.
How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.
Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
01 | It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. |
02 | The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. |
03 | Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; |
04 | so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. |
05 | After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. |
06 | He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, "Lord, are you going to wash my feet?" |
07 | Jesus replied, "You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand." |
08 | "No," said Peter, "you shall never wash my feet."Jesus answered, "Unless I wash you, you have no part with me." |
09 | "Then, Lord," Simon Peter replied, "not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!" |
10 | Jesus answered, "Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you." |
11 | For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean. |
